Tiles on the floor
22.05.2025

So, ceramic tiles or porcelain stoneware are the most durable floor coverings for residential use. Not quite practical, but durable
What makes them impractical?
– Tile has good thermal conductivity, which means it conducts cold well from the floor to your feet;
– Glossy floor tiles can be slippery and will show every speck of dust, so you might have to clean the floors more often;
– Tile is quite fragile, so if something falls on it or your little ones wil try to hit on it with something heavy, this will be too much for the tiles to handle.
But otherwise, tiles are great:
– They are especially good for underfloor heating systems (I will also talk about this separately because it is an important topic);
– Wear-resistant;
– Durable;
– Moisture-resistant;
Because of this, you rarely see tiles in the bedroom. They are usually used in rooms with high humidity or the rooms you use a lot (bathroom, toilet, corridor, living room), But if you have a contractor as good as me, I will advise you where and what material is best to use!
How safe is PVC?
31.05.2025

PVC (polyvinyl chloride, vinyl) consists of plastic with a bonding layer underneath and a decorative layer on top.
For those who are concerned that this is a chemical material, I will say that its quality is controlled by the European MMFA association (the «EPLF and MMFA» logo on the packaging guarantees this quality). Therefore, PVC is allowed for use anywhere, even in schools and kindergartens. This indicates the safety and environmental friendliness of this material.
Also, PVC:
- is not afraid of moisture and temperature changes;
- is suitable for underfloor heating;
- is a very durable material;
- is silent (does not crack, or bend);
- is completely safe for health.
Disadvantages:
- PVC is twice as expensive as laminate;
- the base on which PVC is laid must be perfectly flat.
So, all in all, PVC is a perfectly safe and resistant material. You won’t have to worry about the damage by moisture if you install PVC floors.
The only thing stronger than PVC are tiles, but tiles are cold. I will talk about all this in the next post.
Is laminate better than PVC?
10.04.2025

Laminate is surely a popular budget friendly material and comes in a variety of designs, though it is not very reliable. I don’t want to discredit it, but since I’m always honest about the durability of the materials, I would like to tell you more about the pros and cons of the laminate.
Laminate is a material based on wood (HDF, MDF) + pressed paper impregnated with resin.
There are several types of laminate flooring according to the wear resistance class:
• Class 31 (the weakest coating, is suitable for rooms with the low load)
• Class 32 (quite good quality and price, suitable for residential premises)
• Class 33 (the highest quality that can endure the high loads).
However, the main disadvantage of laminate is not its wear resistance, but its fear of moisture in any form. Moisture is not only a leaking faucet or toilet, children’s mischief, spilled drinks, as well as “surprises” from pets. And if you don’t remove the water immediately, the laminate can deform and loose its appearance. So, if you are not sure, you can avoid wet floors, it might be better to choose PVS flooring, which we will discuss in the next blog post.
Main Interior Color Trends for 2025
31.01.2025

1. Warm Neutral Shades
A shift from cool grays to warmer and cozier tones:
- Beige, cream, sandy — versatile base colors that create a calm and inviting atmosphere.
- Caramel, chocolate — deep, rich tones adding elegance to the space.
2. Natural Green Tones
Green remains a key trend, reflecting a connection to nature:
- Sage green — a soft, calming shade, ideal for bedrooms and bathrooms.
- Olive, emerald, mint — a range of greens bringing freshness and vitality.
3. Terracotta and Mustard
Warm, earthy colors inspired by nature and the sun:
- Terracotta — creates a cozy and welcoming feel, perfect for living rooms and kitchens.
- Mustard — a vibrant accent that adds energy and dynamism.
4. Rich Blues and Ruby Shades
Deep, expressive colors perfect for striking accents:
- Sapphire, indigo — lend depth and sophistication.
- Ruby — adds a luxurious and dramatic touch, especially in accent elements.
5. Soft Pastel Tones
Delicate and romantic hues for a light, airy atmosphere:
- Dusty pink, lavender, peach — perfect for bedrooms and creative spaces.
Color Combination Tips
To achieve a harmonious interior design, it’s recommended to use the 60-30-10 rule: - 60% — primary color (e.g., a warm neutral shade for the walls),
- 30% — secondary color (e.g., natural green for furniture or textiles),
- 10% — accent color (e.g., terracotta or ruby for decor elements).
This approach ensures balance and visual appeal.
